Introducing Penny University

In centuries past, coffeehouses were hot spots for robust political discussions. For the penny that a coffee cost, one could receive a political education through conversation with one's peers, leading cafes to be nicknamed "penny universities."

The Boston Ujima Project is excited to introduce Penny University, a space hosted by the Coalitions, Policy, and Grassroots Organizing (CPGO) member team where we come together to build our collective understanding of political, social, and community issues through respectful discussion in a caring environment. 

Our CPGO members want to know what issues are on the minds of Ujima Members, so we can stay active and advocate for each other. This forum is a safe space to share your thoughts and opinions.

The Coalitions, Policy & Grassroots Organizing (CPGO) member team is a collaborative initiative committed to actively participating in existing coalitions, prioritizing issues such as community safety, economic and environmental justice, and adopting a multigenerational approach. The team serves as a bridge for collaboration within the coalition pillar, emphasizing principles rooted in community and liberation. The policy pillar supports ongoing policy efforts aligned with our mission, membership, and community base, while the grassroots pillar strives to build political alignment within our organizations and communities.
