UGBA Welcomes Park 54 Restaurant & Lounge

Boston Ujima Project Inc. is excited to welcome Park 54 to the Ujima Good Business Alliance (UGBA). Park 54 Restaurant & Lounge is inspired by the life and service of the men who served in the 54th Regiment - a volunteer infantry composed of free Black American male soldiers. Their mission is to continue the legacy of the historical 54th Regiment. They have accomplished this by offering great food, innovative libations, incredible music, compelling historical artifacts, and an inviting ambiance!

In June 2025, our Community Standards Committee joyously extended an invitation to Park 54 to join the UGBA, which they graciously accepted. Joining the Alliance is a rigorous process that involves compliance with our 36 Good Business Standards.

The Community Standards Committee was excited by their outstanding good business practices, including:

Civic Engagement: Park 54 actively promoted civic engagement by collaborating with community members on various initiatives. One example is their commitment to participation in local education programs. They offer to speak to classes about their industry and host field trips to their locations.
Sanctuary Business: Park 54 is committed to protecting and supporting immigrant workers by adopting policies that ensure a safe and equitable work environment for all employees regardless of their immigration status. This commitment aligns with the principles of the sanctuary business pledge which aims to defend the rights and well being of immigrant workers. They enforce strict policies against discrimination based on race, nationality, or immigration status, ensuring all employees are treated with respect and fairness.
Transgender and Gender Nonconforming Workforce: Park 54 workplace policies are designed to center the safety and success of queer and trans-BIPOC. They implement regular anti oppression training, ensure that rights and resources for queer and transgender BIPOC employees are visibly posted and accessible, and actively work toward equitable hiring through targeted outreach.
