Ujima Welcomes New Operations Associate: Z Shekoni

The Boston Ujima Project Inc. is excited to welcome Z Shekoni as our new Operations Associate.


Shekoni's work lives at the intersection of operations, infrastructure, and people. With experience in youth development, staffing, and the logistics that keep organizations running, she enjoys building systems that support communities and teams in doing their best work.


Shekoni was first introduced to Ujima through her participation in the Design Studio for Social Intervention (DS4SI). She was inspired by Ujima's belief that new worlds are possible through creating alternatives that center working-class communities, collective ownership, and community self-determination.


At Ujima, Shekoni is excited to strengthen the organization's operational backbone by supporting in building and maintaining the administrative and logistical systems that allow work across the Ujima ecosystem to thrive. From internal processes to organizational infrastructure, her role focuses on creating the conditions that enable staff, members, and community partners to focus on the work of building a solidarity economy.


Shekoni looks forward to contributing to a future where communities have greater power to shape the economic and social systems that impact their lives. helping ensure the people, spaces, and systems behind the work are cared for and able to thrive.
