Introducing Ujima’s 2024-25 Resourcing Fellow

The Boston Ujima Project is excited to welcome our new Resource Organizing Fellow, Ciarra McPhail. The Resource Organizing Fellowship is designed to support the development and execution of strategies that enable the Boston Ujima Project to secure and manage various types of resources.

As the Resource Organizing Fellow, Ciarra will co-facilitate monthly member team resourcing meetings, engage with current and prospective members, and assist in planning and executing member-led projects. She will also focus on donor cultivation, analyze donor data for key insights, and collaborate on funder reports. Additionally, she will identify new funding opportunities and support the organization's resourcing priorities while expanding her knowledge of dynamic stewardship practices.

Reflecting on her new role, Ciarra shared, “I’m elated to step into this role with the Boston Ujima Project, where I’ll be supporting our community's resourcing efforts and fostering a deeper understanding of Black giving through innovative, collaborative approaches.  My door is always open to feedback and I would love to share, learn, and grow with all of you!”

Ciarra McPhail is a social work professional from Philadelphia, PA, with over a decade of experience in direct service, community organizing, and program development, focusing on Black and Brown economic liberation and sustainable community empowerment. She has served as Assistant Program Officer at the Local Initiatives Support Corporation and Program Officer at Funders for Housing and Opportunity, managing grants for affordable housing and tenants' rights, and has worked with the Philadelphia Office of Homeless Services and the Abortion Liberation Fund of PA. Ciarra holds an MSW from the University of Pennsylvania and a BS in Human Services from Old Dominion University. Passionate about style, music, and joy, she brings her expertise and energy to the Boston Ujima Project.
